4S Transform: A tool for small business strategy (part 1)

Updated: Apr 27, 2023

As a part of the 1st I-MEC Conference for inventors and entrepreneurs, Dasha Tyshlek presented a framework called “The 4S Transformation: a Strategy Tool for Small Business Success.” This workshop is based on the writing of Charles McCarrick taken from the book “Lessons My Brothers Taught Me: How to Transform Your Personal Qualities Into a Successful Business.

The “4S Transformation” is a unique concept that associates the leadership team's strengths and values with the company's strategic goals to identify where they need additional talent and focus.

Part 1 covers: Salability, Sensibility, Sustainability

Salability: Having a valued product, one that has salability. The product is you. You must ‘market’ yourself to be viewed as a valued asset and not a mere obstacle. It means having a positive attitude and being dependable, supporting whatever occurrence or opportunity might arise, and participating toward an outcome that benefits all parties.

Sensibility: Having sensibility with regard to your industry through knowing your customers, respecting your competitors, and being sensible of how you fit into it all.

Sustainability: This includes financial sustainability but also sustainability beyond the founder’s direct efforts or any one team member.
